Coldwater is a city that serves as the seat of Branch County in the state of Michigan. Though it is an independent city, it sits in the center of the Township of Coldwater in the south-central region of the state. The Coldwater River flows into the southern part of the city from the Coldwater Lake. The city is located halfway between two major cities along the Old Sauk Trail: Detroit and Chicago. Coldwater is easily accessible through Interstate 69, the US 12 Heritage Route (formerly Old Sauk Trail) and the I-69 Business Loop which runs through its downtown area.
